I Love LA 2026

I went on a road trip to Los Angeles for a food blogging conference, and of course, I had to take some skyline and food market pictures while I was there.

This was my dream shot - the LA skyline, lit up during blue hour. Little did I know that it was going to be 40°F with high winds - it was COLD up in the Hollywood hills. But, I toughed it out to get the shot. (Hard as nails, that's me 😜)

My favorite shot is the blue hour shot with just a hint of the pink sunset left, but I also have a stacked panorama shot so I can get a really hi-res image of the city. I wish I could do justice to how vast LA is - there are grids of streetlights going on forever - but I didn't have the right angle to get that shot from the observatory. That's fine, I loved the skyline shots I got.

Of course I had to visit the local food market. Grand Central Market is a collection of restaurants, take-out shops, and food vendors in downtown LA. I had a fantastic Carnitas taco at Villa Moreliana, followed up by some German currywurst and a beer at Berlin Currywurst. (I couldn't skip the currywurst after this summer's trip to Germany.)

Equipment

I went with my usual Travel Photography Bag kit, but brought the new Peak Design Pro Lite Tripod instead of my usual Peak Design tripod. I wanted to give the heftier tripod a test, and I liked it - it did a great job in windy conditions at Griffith Observatory.

The skyline pictures were shot with my Sony 70-200/4 Macro, and the Grand Central Market were with my walk-around Sony 40/2.5.

LA? We love it! Thanks for reading.
