Holiday Lights 2025

This year's holiday lights photo walks were brutally cold. Single digit Farenheit temperatures, with windchill temps in the double digit negatives. But, thanks to Gabe Wasylko and Pixel Connection, and to Sam Young Studios, I pushed through, and got to photograph the holiday lights in Downtown Cleveland and Downtown Akron.

The May Company through the Christmas lights

The first blustery photo walk - 30mph winds off the lake into downtown. We still had a great time, though.

Cascade Falls, Downtown Akron in the snow

This one was the killer. A high of 6°F with windchill into the negative teens. We cut the walk short, but we still went out. I practiced one of Gabe's favorite techniques, snow globe photography, where you expose for the scene, then use a flash to freeze the snowflakes.

Sam and I kept having to reschedule - winter storm warnings and the flu got in the way - but we got lucky, the day we rescheduled to was a balmy 39°F in downtown Cleveland, melting the snow and leaving us all sorts of puddles to get reflection shots.

It's been a brisk winter, but at least I've been able to get some photos!
