Blackbirds are probably the most common bird in my area, especially in winter. My favorite is the Red-winged blackbird; I can tell when spring is arriving when they spread out from their winter flocks and start staking out territory next to every marsh, swamp, lake, and puddle. Their constant song - which sounds like Konk-a-leeee to me - is the soundtrack of spring.
